Laura Hinde ACR
Laura is a paintings conservator, applying material science and practical experience to the repair and preservation of easel paintings dating from the 1500s to the 21st century, on fabric or solid supports.
Her work focuses on finding creative solutions to complex issues in paintings and providing long-term stability to artworks for display. This may include cleaning and structural repair of degraded or damaged paintings, reintegration of paint loss and preventive conservation and research. She also runs workshops for children and adults, exploring artists’ techniques and material properties.
‘I am fascinated by the way artists use and apply materials in their work and can work with artists in supporting their vision. I bring ethical sensitivity, broad material knowledge and modern approaches to my conservation-restoration practice’
Laura graduated with a BA from University of Leeds in 2004 and the Courtauld Institute of Art in 2010 with a postgraduate diploma in the conservation of easel paintings.
Laura is accredited with the Institute of Conservation (ICON) and has worked for the British Council, National Portrait Gallery, Tate, The National Trust and the Courtauld Institute of Art. She is a Council Member for the British Association of Paintings Conservator-Restorers (BAPCR).
