Nikki Allford
Exploring notions of beauty, my Installations have a presence that disrupts a space. There is a feeling of nostalgia but also of growth and flourishing. My work is a precipitation of time-consuming processes which incorporates the repetition of folding. It can be read as abstract, or perhaps reminiscent of the innards of the body, pools of water or organic plant growth.
Residencies are an important element in the development of my practice. Time at The Mansion, Ashton Court Estate and The Laundrette have allowed breathing room for pushing boundaries with paper, folding, lighting and space to make new large scale site responsive Installations.
Su Fahy, artist and curator –
“Nikki beautifully haunts The Mansion.
Stunning ambitious pieces, where she takes risks to be playfully evocative and beguiling.
Stepping into an interior, there was a feeling of a past life but a contemporary disruption allowed a different perspective on the poetics of heritage space. ”
