Daniel Hampson

I am a painter. Since late 2024 I have been preoccupied with a repeated motif, a singular head partially visible over the top of an object. I change the object from painting to painting, sometimes it is a floating island, sometimes furniture which descends into formlessness.

The objects and heads float in colour saturated atmospheres. The motif is repeated but with each painting a new story might come to mind, a new situation with its own psychology and feeling. I like transforming the same motif through intuitive ways of painting, deciding this one thing in advance but then seeing where it can go.
